Cheat day treats – Gino’s Gelato

Gino’s gelato is traditional homemade Italian ice cream. Gino’s gelato is in many places throughout Ireland. This unique and stylish ice cream parlour is designed to capture the Italian culture. The main colours used for their stores are green, white and red which is the colours of the Italian flag. When you walk in the shop, you can see the seats are designed as mopeds and Italian street lights on the roof in a variety of colours.

Gino’s menu has a wide variety of options, from traditional ice cream, waffles, crepes to coffee. Gino’s ice creams are all different unique flavour’s, for example, Rocher, gum, forest, mango and cream. My personal favourite is of course Rocher. Gino’s serve their ice cream in small, medium and large tubs, with the small tub costing €4.30 and the large €6.90. As you can see, Gino’s is more expensive compared to its rival Scrumdiddly’s. Although, Gino’s is expensive they have many customers due to their wide variety of stores unlike Scrumdiddly’s.

Gino’s gelato was not on my list of cheat day treats, however because of its many locations in town I decided I had to give it a try.I was not disappointed, as the ice cream was thick and creamy. The portion sizes are small for their price but the ice cream inside is worth it. People seem to notice this place as just a regular ice cream shop, however their magical crepes are not given enough credit. In my opinion, the crepes are what the shop should be known for. These slices of heaven are smothered from edge to edge in Nutella sauce, they are thick, warm and truly are a treat on a cold winter’s day.

From my three cheat day treat blogs, the best option by far is clearly Scrumdiddly’s. As it has the best value for money and is by far the tastiest of the three options.
